Revised!!!
In January, 2009. Finally Answered
Questions.
This is PART TWO!
NEWER FAQs here.
Even older..PART THREE!!
The usual stuff:
Are you still unmarried?
Not exactly. I got married as of April
2005. My new last name will be Jones. [Update: Married April 16th,
2005, visit CatheJones.com for
updates!]
Can I have your autograph? Or an
autographed photo?
I'm sure you can. Of me? Oh, uhm, sure.
Today I was suprised that several people at the restaraunt had recognized
me. It's been awhile since I had my show in Los Angeles, but these
folks had seen it several times. I find it really funny when people
recite my material to me. If you see me, don't be afraid to come
up and say howdy. Chances are, I'll say it right back to you. The
woman had me sign her purse, of all things.
I saw on a newsgroup that you are
a fan of "____insert whomever here___".
I enjoy quite a few performers, and
artists. Robert Williams is one of my favorite painters. Henry
Rollins
is one of my favorite writers. Kate Bush is my favorite female
singer..no Bjork..no Cecilia Bartolli..no...
uhm, we'll get back to that. I have been to private screenings
of John Waters and Russ Meyers films. I even have an autograph
from
Russ which gives me permisson to see his work. I've been lucky
enough to work with some amazing animators, and effects artists.
Joanne
Priestley and the Alexiefs are some of my favorite animators. The
glass paintings, pinboard work, and whitespace make all the
difference. Jan Svankmeyer is a personal animation hero, and
I'm quoted in a book about him. I also like the Henson Creature
shop, and would love to spend a
month just learning their craft.
I've been doing websites for celebrities,
and I enjoy all of these people. I used to spend quite a bit of
time in the subways in Boston just staring at the artists there.
Some of my favorite performers are at Renfaires, or at Fanueill
Hall, or at airports having deep discussions about the tips of sneakers.
What is your religion?
Okay, if you've read any of the books
you know that I'm a devout atheist. I'm also in love with cultural
events. I do go to native american events. By the same token, yes
I've read the bible, I keep getting asked if I "found"
jesus, but you know, I didn't think he was lost. We're electrical
beings. I'm fascinated by the medical world and the forensics of
the human body. I get alot of emails around xmas time asking me
to reconsider. I had a few years on that crutch, but I'm fine walking
on my own now. I find my "religion" is enjoying all of
the sense I have, and noting each of the times during the day one
of those senses gives me a new thing to ponder.
Where do you hang out?
I got this question once or twice last
year, and about a dozen times just in the month of May this year.
I'm not sure why there is a sudden interest in my physical location.
Perhaps it is that I'm now living in Las Vegas, and more of you
are visiting here this year? I work quite a bit. I spend hours on
the computer, or writing, or drawing, or doing the "music thing".
When I take breaks, I like to enjoy a nice lunch somewhere. I like
galleries, and I like taking leisure drives. I tend to escape in
my car, with a cd playing loudly, just to see what I can find. In
Las Vegas, during the week, I will visit a casino mall if I need
to see some artwork, or some new books or music. Also, the antique
stores here carry some wonderful clothing from the Swing Era, and
you know I enjoy wearing the clothes of the dead. I hate shopping,
and I am not one of those who will hang out in crowds. Go to a pow-wow,
and you may run into me.
I saw you in a wheelchair, and my
sister saw you with a cane...what gives?
I've written about this several times.
BUT, I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. It's a connective tissue disorder
which makes it so that my joints dislocate quite often. It's painful,
and at times, I cannot stand up for more than a few moments. These
are the times you will see me in a wheelchair. My cane is for every
day life. When you don't know if your knee is going to fall out
from under you, it's a good thing to have. Also, I am on several
medications. I'm not a big fan of not being clear headed, so I take
them as little as possible. This also may leave me too weak, and
I will use the chair then.
What are you favorite foods? (See
Nancy D. from Winnetka, Ca., I do read your emails!)
A perfect meal for me would be a nice
four hour sit down event. I like a lot of different types of
food.
I don't eat a lot of sugar, but I've yet to turn down a home made
chocolate chip cookie. I don't like fried or heavy foods. Yes,
that
means if you and I are in McDonald's, Nancy, YOU get the french
fries. BUT, if you have fried clams with bellies, I get the
bellies, because that is one of my favorites.
How are the rats?
The rats are just dandy. We lose one
or two every few months. That's hard, but most of the time they
are healthy and happy. The show Pet Star, on Animal Planet, recently
featured the critters in a "gross out the judges" moment.
That was a lot of fun, and it's really a good chance that we'll
go ahead and do the show again. [Update- YouTube carries some videos
under CatheJ!]
What happened to the album?
Yes, this is the most asked question.
The real world happened, I'm afraid. Between physical illness, and
schedules, there seems to be a terminal delay. I did hear Anna playing
on a few stations. That was really exciting. I'm still posting lyrics
on this site, though, and you can read them anytime.
Was that you at a Renfaire? SciFiCon?
Pow-wow? Other comics show?
Yes. I love science fiction, especially
when written by Ricky Manning. I've been going to renaissance faires
for about twenty years now. I even have my own rapier, and know
how to use it. I also believe in supporting up-and-coming comics,
or seeing old friends. Dennis
Blair was kind enough to introduce me to George Carlin. Geez,
and who can miss
Scott Thompson? I also have been seen at motown shows, old blues
heroes shows, and have been invited to see some musicians at the
House Of Blues here in town. Yes I got to see Lou Reed tell people
to fuck off, and the very next night, capped the week with Weird
Al.
So, here are the FAQ's for 2003. The
more personal ones? They're here.
