War

"War, what is it good for? Absolutely Nothing!" -- Edwin Starr, "War"

A pretty interesting theory is that if you don't support the war, you are anti-American. Who is on this bandwagon? Why Dr. Phil among others. I have a problem with that thinking. The problem is, that sheep don't master the world. I was also in the service, so to think that I would have worn a uniform for my country and then turned around and decided anyone else who does that same thing is wrong...well in the words of Phil, "What are you thinking?" The truth is, it wasn't the soldiers and warriors who made the decision to go to war, it was the agenda-driven in charge.

I also am a strong believer is in the arts and sciences, and one of my heroes, Dr. Albert Einstein, (maybe Phil has heard of him?), had a wonderful quote that is quite applicable when explaining why people would protest war, and get boo'ed by sheep, "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." Remember, Einstein may have discovered some of the mathematics that helped create atomic bombs but he also was an ardent proponent against the results of the use of such bombs, "when the war is over, then there will be in all countries a pursuit of secret war preparations with technological means which will lead inevitably to preventative wars and to destruction even more terrible than the present destruction of life." For the record, Korea still maintains an atomic arsenal simply because of the fear that has been flamed since the Iraqi War. ALL actions and INACTIONS have consequences, el prez, all of them.

Every time I watch television, and be assured, I can be glued and depressed as all get out, I see boys, about 19, and girls, 18, and hear stories of how they had to leave infants with parents. I hear how four family members are all deployed on the same day, leaving just their mother at home. The difference between this war and Viet Nam is that in this war, we're jungle free. The actions our country is taking is similar to those that the english took against India.

Before you freak out at my alleged misinterpretation of history, think of from where my point is coming. We, a strong nation, decided that another nation had poor leadership, (and YES I know that is beyond true there), and it was our right as a big bad nation to go in and kick some ass. We now have senators making statements that when the war ends, we must create an American Democracy in this area. Perhaps these senators forgot, when they attended their universities and studied world history, that the middle east has been at war since as long as there has been written words, and imposing an eminent domain approach hadn't worked for England either. That is the point I am making there..perhaps the lack of success of the English in taking over Pakistan when they fought for India is why they were so ardent in their decision to be one of the only countries to be "on our side". Oh, had you forgotten? The Pakistan/India fight is still going on, and Pakistan also has claims to nuclear arms.

Ten days after he took office Bush decided to bomb Saddam's house. Ten days after he took office Bush decided to bomb Saddam's House. TEN DAYS after he TOOK office BUSH decided to BOMB Saddam's HOUSE. Am I making my point? Here we have a president who wants the "christian world to understand" that the "reign of terror and terrorism" is the reason why we want to prevent others from having the SAME ARMAMENTS WE HAVE, and yet ten days after taking office, Bush launched an assault agains the man, who, "You must remember, this guy tried to kill my daddy." Saddam is this generations Goebels, don't get me wrong, his sons are mini-Hitlers as well, but Saddam is not a known member of Al Quaeda...remember those guys, they supported the terrorists who had taken down the pentagon? Oh you remember, it wasn't JUST the WTT's that went down. In my heart of hearts, I believe Bush and his adminstration is in a war partly as the ultimate re-election campaign. His own father said that this was the key way to ensure a continued stay in office. But I digress...

Eventually Bush will have to contend with the 1.2 MILLION people who are still unemployed since 9-11, and have no benefits left - and therefore are no longer counted in the Unemployment Numbers. Eventually. Possibly around re-election. Eventually, Bush will have to deal with the fact that school districts around the country are now shutting down due to lack of funding. Eventually.Oh, you know those elections sure do bring out the supporters of education, but the actions are bigger than the promises, right? Eventually, Bush will have to attend a single funeral for a single soldier who lost her life. (YES I meant to type HER.) Maybe he will see the face of one of his daughters as he looks down about that soldier's casket. Maybe he will wake up. Eventually. I'm sorry, I know that was a pretty funny thought.

The day that the Rumsfield, I mean Bush Adminstration declared that we would begin our assault, I wrote a new version of the National Anthem. It really was just a fluff piece, with quotes I got from soundbytes on tv news shows, sent to friends, heroes, and to a few newsgroups I subscribe to, and to this date, nearly everything I've mused has turned true. So Phil, I guess not all of us liberals are idiots. It's not the soldiers we blame it's our leaders. And NO I don't support this war. And the right for you to disagree with me is EXACTLY why I wore a uniform.

Oh say can you see
"Our reporter is in the tank, and as we listen we may hear, yes we hear screaming..."

by the dawn's early light
"If we attack during the night, it can be aired on US television during the day, and ratings will improve, and the networks will boom"

What so proudly we hailed
"do we dare call him chief? He won't even acknowledge our tribe"

at the twilight's last gleaming?
The Bush twins were found last night in a bar, and were reprimanded by local Austin police. Said one, "My daddy won't draft me, so I chose a draft of my own."

Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
"No one knows for sure, if the academy award nominees will walk the red carpet."

through the perilous fight,
"We are not at liberty to say how many civilians we expect to have martyred for this cause."

O'er the ramparts we watched,
"Continue watching MSNBC for live shots of the night flying missiles, and for up to the minute images, visit our website, at MSNBC.com"

were so gallantly streaming?
"The American Embassies have been asked to remove their flags, and to authorize police actions against anyone who would harass American citizens abroad. The French have placed American flags in trash cans around the city of Paris in protest."

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
"My name is Staff Sargeant.. .., and I want to pass the message to my family back home in Texas, this is the best video game I've ever played, and I'm going to get the high score."

Gave proof through the night
"There is no word tonight where Dick Cheney nor Air Force one is at this moment."

that our flag was still there.
"In a claim of patriotism, Anna Nicole says today she will tattoo the US Flag on some part of her body. Says Miss Smith, 'This is the least I can do to support my troops.'"

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
"Children in grade schools will be assembling on Friday to talk about what will happen if and when the Koreans decide to launch bombs in our country."

O'er the land of the free
"The Dixie Chicks have faced the backlash of thousands of radio listeners who protested the comments made by Natalie Maines. Quote one, 'Freedom of speech doesn't mean bashing the president'"
