There are many things that I have wondered about over the last few months.

I have had a roommate swindle me out of $600 with a phone bill to England to his girlfriend, who as far as he was concerned was still of the belief that the pig headed sex fiend was still a virgin. (how sensitive, how sweet)

I've had a homeless guy slash my tires for not flirting back with him. That happened in a "Safeway" parking lot. (no irony there.)

I've gotten laid off two weeks after my wedding. My husband's car died just as he got a job teaching 12 miles from our apartment.

I was told by "one of the girls" that my bad luck was due to the horror I must have inflicted on people in my past life. My karma had run over my dogma. My qui was out of line. I didn't hold my chakra in the correct position. Nice guys finish last. I didn't pray to the right god or goddess. (or politician) Only the good die young. No matter where you go, there you are. There ain't no cure for the summertime blues. (Townshend version, sil vouz plait) The gods must be crazy. And, my very favorite of the cliche listings, Let go, let god.

As the bumper sticker says, "god protect me from your followers." On the other half of the news front, I just got a job that pays substantially more than my last one, and is in a very artsy town. I commute opposite traffic for/from the city. My husband's band is producing its second album, and features some of his compositions. My stepdaughter is great. I have been taken off the ramen noodles-unemployment-wish-I-had-some-meat-sandwich diet. And, best of all, I'm still happily if not legally married (joke, dad) to a terrific lunatic with a great heart.

It's all ying yang. It's all heaven and hell. Example? ValueJet sending people to their mothers for Mother's Day. Now there is nothing more than shadows. The terror is being replaced by awareness that will probably save others in the future. (It's that same logic that made domestic violence, and HIV positive sports players, covers of Time magazine.)

Live in a cash and carry mode. Period. I know enough to know I don't know. But, I don't want to create someone else's hell. (ie roomie mentioned afore) I don't want to be a part of someone's lowest moments. It takes as much effort to go out of your way to give a damn about someone as it does to antagonize. (hint hint congressman)

Okay, I sound like a flaky ad for Hallmark here. I think it's time to go have some coffee and tell my secretary what a great job she's doing.

THANKS for checking in..pass the word like a cootie.
