Forgiving
"Lovely lady," you said, "can I buy you a little something?"
As you unbuttoned my dress and my naiveté
Cemented my feet in your ambiguity
And sun dried my emotional being
oh, that's what I thought
we both tempted the other side
bedposts were allies
when no one lay by our side
chat with the wall
oh, never feel the world
never give in to anything
never again be a self
"long hair boy," I said, "can I make you smile for a night?"
as I rubbed nail shiver in thighs
filled in my own personal paint by number
who are these new bystanders
oh, that's what I thought
ass kissed our way away from reality
supper dishes spoke the truth
because we had nothing else to say
look past your eyes
into a fantasy world
gave up too much for this thing
where we were ourselves
